Every zone-by-zone spray adjustment, every redesigned cockpit, every extra second saved on a Wi-Fi reconnect — the newest ABZ Control update rebuilds the software layer of the entire ABZ fleet at once, and the changes reach every stage of a mission, from planning at the desk to the last meter of flight.
ABZ Innovation develops and manufactures heavy-duty action drones for agricultural, industrial and cargo work at its Szentendre facility, and the software that runs them evolves alongside the hardware. The team describes this release as the most substantial ABZ Control has ever received — not a single new headline feature, but the accumulated output of an entire quarter of development, folded into one update that touches how operators plan, fly and operate across the L-, C- and M-series.
The centrepiece is Variable Rate Application — differentiated spraying that adjusts flow rate automatically as the drone crosses zone boundaries, based on a prescription map uploaded ahead of the mission. The workflow is now officially supported by Pix4D Fields: operators import their mission through the shapefile manager, and the software identifies the variable rate polygons on its own, while still leaving speed, height, spacing and individual zone settings under full manual control.
Planning gets its own upgrade too. Advanced Planning 2.0 simplifies waypoint setup, pairs the mode selection screen with a new payload selector, and groups mission parameters logically — so a flight plan that once took several passes to configure now reads clearly on a single screen, and adjustments in the field take seconds rather than a full re-plan.
A flight interface only earns its keep if it holds up in direct sunlight. This release optimises UI element sizing across the planning page, adds a clearer landing page with immediate drone-type clarification, and introduces a new drone icon that shows exact position and orientation at a glance. The FPV feed itself is noticeably smoother, with the occasional latency of earlier versions eliminated.
A quieter but practical addition: a universal battery warning system, covering both the primary and secondary battery, with an adjustable slider and percentage indicators built directly into the settings menu — one less thing to estimate mid-mission.
Rather than a single interface stretched across the whole fleet, each drone series gets improvements built around how it’s actually flown.
Material management for spreading operations is now built into the app as a step-by-step calibration guide, backed by a comprehensive spreader material characteristic list with its own drop-down and management system. Calibration results save into dedicated profiles, so a setup validated once can be recalled instantly on future missions instead of repeated from scratch.
Connectivity improvements follow the same logic. A new Network RTK profile system lets pilots store multiple sign-in profiles in a simple drop-down list, the direct RTK link is more secure and reliable, and clearer system messages show connection status at a glance. If a Wi-Fi interruption does occur, ABZ Control now reconnects automatically — to both the internet and the RTK servers — without operator intervention.
Return to Launch settings now use a slider system with preset minimum and maximum limits, replacing more manual configuration with a safer default. And in keeping with ABZ’s presence across more than 40 countries, ABZ Control is available in six languages — English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian and Spanish — with refined flight terminology in every localisation.
